Lumber Station
Automated tree farming: fell, clean up, collect, replant, repeat.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Grove | 11x11 around the station |
| Felling | one log per second, top-down, 20 E per log |
| Leaves | clears orphaned canopy leaves, 8 per second, 2 E each |
| Planting | one sapling per second on valid soil, 10 E each |
| Slots | 1 sapling, 9 outputs |

How it works
- It finds a tree in the grove and fells it from the crown down, one log per second. Big trees cost real power (a jungle giant is over 2,000 E).
- Once the logs are gone, the orphaned canopy is broken up by the station within a few seconds. Leaf drops (saplings, sticks, apples) are collected; saplings go straight into its own planting slot.
- It replants saplings on valid soil with 2-block spacing, so trees have room to grow. Felling, cleanup, and planting all run at the same time, so the grove regrows behind the felling front.
- One starter sapling is enough. The loop sustains itself from decayed saplings.
Your builds are safe
A log structure only counts as a tree if it has at least 3 natural leaves attached. Player-placed leaves are "persistent" and do not count, so log cabins, fences, and pillars are never touched. There is also a 128-log cap per tree.
The leaf cleanup follows the same rule from the other side: it only breaks leaves the game has already orphaned (no log within reach), which is exactly the set that would decay naturally. Neighboring trees and decorative leaves are never affected.
Supported trees
Oak, birch, spruce, jungle, acacia, and cherry, plus modded trees that use standard logs and saplings (Tech Reborn rubber trees work). Dark oak (needs 2x2 planting), mangrove, and azalea are not planted yet.
Tips
- Pair with a Grow Lamp: it boosts sapling growth too. Place lamps beside the grove, not above it; trees need clearance to grow.
- Logs smelt into charcoal in the Electric Furnace, and charcoal fuels the Steam Generator: a fully renewable power plant.
- The station is wood-flavored: mine it with an axe.
