Getting Started

First power

  1. Craft a Steam Generator (iron, copper, furnace, bucket) and some Copper Cables (three copper ingots in a row makes six).
  2. Place the generator, right-click it, and drop any furnace fuel in the fuel slot.
  3. Give it water: right-click the block with a water bucket, or put water buckets in its bucket slot (hoppers work too).
  4. It burns fuel and boils water into energy at 10 E per tick.

First machine

  1. Craft an Electric Furnace and place it next to the generator, or connect it with cables.
  2. Machines touching each other pass energy through, so a stack of machines only needs one cable to any block in the stack.
  3. Drop in ore. It smelts at double vanilla speed.

First farm

  1. Till a 9x9 field and plant crops.
  2. Place a Harvester at crop level beside the field. It reaps mature crops, replants a seed, and stores the produce.
  3. Hang a Sprinkler above the field (it mounts under any solid block or fluid pipe). Fill it with water buckets, or pipe water to it. It keeps all farmland watered. The sprinkler needs no electricity.
  4. Add a Grow Lamp on top of the harvester for light and faster growth at night.
  5. Put a chest under the harvester and click the eject button (the arrow at the top right of its GUI). Produce flows into the chest.

Free water forever

  1. Find or dig a pool with at least two water source blocks side by side.
  2. Place a Water Pump so two of its horizontal sides touch the sources. It lights up when working.
  3. Run Fluid Pipes from the pump to a Water Tank, then from the tank to sprinklers and steam generators. The glass pipes visibly fill with blue water as it flows.

The self-sustaining loop

Feed your harvester's surplus crops to a Biogas Generator (place them next to each other and enable eject on the harvester). The farm now grows its own fuel.
